How to sync your Google or website's calendar

The ability to export your custom calendar using the iCal tool lets you automatically maintain your property's availability on multiple websites, such as JWguest.com and others. By syncing your Vrbo calendar with JWguest.com, you can prevent multiple guests from booking the exact dates. iCal saves you from having dreadful and expensive double bookings.

What is iCal?

iCal is an industry-standard format allowing users to share calendar and event information. The publisher of the data can choose what information will be shared; it can be as simple as just the booking name, start and end date OR as much as phone number and other personal details about the booking if configured.

How can I export my website calendar?

To sync your calendar with Simple In/Out's Scheduled Statuses, we need the URL of your calendar's iCalendar feed. Virtually all calendar providers will supply such a URL for interoperability. However, every website is different, so we recommend you check with your website support about the possibility of exporting your iCal calendar.

If your listing is on an existing platform, like Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com, or another platform, we can help sync your calendars directly. For support, just write to support@jwguest.com.

How can I export my Google calendar?

You need a public address in iCal format in order to import a calendar to JWguest. Here's how to do it for your Google Calendar:

  1. Open Google Calendar on your computer.

  2. Click on the Settings icon at the top right.

  3. On the left side, under "Settings for my calendars," choose the calendar you wish to share.

  4. Scroll down to the Integrate Calendar section

  5. Copy the link visible in "Public address in iCal format."

  6. The iCal address only works if the calendar is made public.

    1. To make it public, scroll to the “Access permissions for events” section and make sure that the “Make available to public” is turned on"

    2.

Note that this cannot be done using the Google Calendar app. If you are trying to set this up on your phone, you must use your browser and go to https://calendar.google.com/calendar (and try opening the “Desktop” view).
